"Nice Job!"

My name is Joelle Kaczmarczyk. I am a student. I met Emily at school. We are friends, and live in the same house. From this website, I learned that it is important to teach children how to use the internet. I never knew that so many kids are targeted because of what they post on social media. It is important that children are educated on internet safety and social media. Kids should be taught what is appropriate to post online, and what is not. This website was very informative! I enjoyed the statistics page. There was a lot of facts that I didn't know. All children should be educated on internet safety. Great site!!!

"Good initiative; the information is factual and provides a good overall summary of the issues; I think the 5E's, while again providing information, you may want to be more directive, e.g. direct the response to call law enforcement; In the resources section, can you provide the ability to click and go to the website? overall i think you've done a good job of researching the subject and building the site. thank you"

This is a great article and very well written. You lay out very good examples and the statistics are very eye opening! I agree that stranger danger is a serious topic and educating kids at a very young age is proactive and a good move to reduce harm to them and keep them safe. The Internet is a very useful for many reasons such as entertainment, connections with other people and for leisure!! Kids should be able to enjoy using the Internet without being at risk for predators! Overall you did a great job creating the website!

Hi, I am a student at SUNY Brockport. My name is Jon DiPasquale and me and Emily have been friends for 12 years. I have learned that teaching children about cyber safety is very important in today's world. The statistics section of the website are interesting and important to pay attention too. Children's cyber safety should be a vital part of parenting, especially with how quick children pick up on things having to do with technology.

"Children's Cyber Safety"

"As a first grade teacher, I found the website to be quite informative. The statistics are eye-opening and scary! You did a great job! I really feel that cyber safety needs to start with PARENTS! We can educate our children from the time they are toddlers on cyber safety, but they are still children and need that parental guidance and monitoring! Thanks for sharing!"

"I am a college student at St. John Fisher college, and I met Emily through a mutual friend. From this site, I learned the many different resources, children and adults have to find information on internet safety. I really liked the "note to visitors" as it really explained why internet safety is important, what you will find when looking at this website, and what we should to prevent anything harmful from happening. I also agree that this should be a topic taught at a young age, especially in elementary school, when children are just started to form their habits, and in today's society, probably getting a cell phone or computer. I wasn't aware of how big of a problem this could potentially be, or is, until I looked at the statistics section. The statistics made you sit back and think how serious of an issue this is. This website makes me want to get involved in the subject, and I am looking forward to emailing Emily, and asking her what I can do to help!

"CYBER SAFETY - WHO KNEW?"

"My name is Kristen and Emily is my beautiful niece. WOW! Quite an eye opener...those statistics of yours. You hear all of the time about the dangers of the unknown in "cyber space", but these numbers paint a vivid picture of the hard, cold reality of what could and does happen when a child is given a free ticket to surf the web with no restrictions. Emily, the color scheme is very warm and inviting - it brings the visitor right into a child's world...like an elementary school classroom. I was thinking that you might want to make the word 'Safety' in the header red, or outline it to make it "pop" more. Kind of like an emergency signal. The pictures of the kids is very appealing. I like how you showed an older child using the laptop on her own and smaller children being watched over by an adult. I think it is genius that you list additional web resources and teaching tools that will engage kids with characters and games they know and love, rather than bore them and turn them off to the topic. One final suggestion for you...tell us what drives your passion! Why has this issue captured your heart? How has it touched your life? What plan for Cyber Safety would you implement in your own classroom? Overall, two thumbs up for a job well done!! Thanks so much for sharing with us."

"My name is Kip Bisland, I am Emily's father and I am also a retired police officer. I am very impressed with your site. Cyber safety is a huge problem already and will just continue to grow unless more people start taking it seriously. Your information is accurate and eye opening. I am glad you included that there is not a simple solution and that everyone has to work together to get this under control. You may want to include something about making sure local law enforcement officers are properly trained in dealing with these new issues. Overall - Excellent work.

"Hi Emily, I just want to say how impressed I am with your website. It looks professional and fun--a rare combo. You have a great color palette; it doesn't look overly exuberant like a lot of stuff with pastels can be. This is how good it is: I would want an author page designed by someone with your sense of style."

"Great Website!!"

"Emily, you did a phenomenal job constructing this website! It was a ton of great content and very valuable information for parents or soon to be parents. The internet is an ever expanding universe that is super useful to children of all ages, so I feel it is very important this coming generation's parents know how to properly secure their internet. The 5 E's page is very useful and provides some very important points. I think this site really brings a very vital point to the forefront, and parents around the country to take notice!! Great job, Emily!!

"My name is Samantha Bisland, I'm a high school student and Emily's sister. The patterns and great variety of colors were very eye catching on this website. It was very informative, and the 5 E's are very well laid out. I encourage everyone to learn them and pass the knowledge onto children who are beginning to enter the cyber world. Thank you for making this accessible to everyone who may be unaware of the dangers. Nice work!!"

"My name is Carly Klemen and I am Emily's sister. This website really impressed me with it's appearance as well as the information that is provided. All of the sections, especially the statistics section, displays information that I did not know and that I believe can be very useful for someone to be aware. Technology is extremely useful in today's society but it definitely is associated with a multitude of risks, I think that this is a great resource to make children and parents aware of these risks. Great job!"

"My name is Jordynn and I have been friends with Emily for a few years now. I am going to be an elementary teacher as well so I believe that this topic is very important. I found your chart that was located in the statistics section very shocking. How are there so many 4th graders that have received a mean or threatening email. I love all the information that you put and I learned so much from this. Great job Em!"

"This is a very important subject. I really liked seeing all the statistics. I think parents should monitor more closely what their kids do online. Also if they can ban dangerous websites I think they should. I think they should know the passwords to certain sites and check on them. I think they shouldn't allow a kid that is 10 years old to have a Facebook or anything like that. This is a great website and a big eye opener!"

"My name is Jackie Terry and I'm appalled. I never would have guessed that children would be the target of so many people. Emily's statistics and article showed the terrifying truth behind the interweb. I have learned that although the Internet has opened a lot of doors for technology and improvement for the world but also opened doors for scary people to lurk on innocent children. From this article I can't tell if you are trying to become a teacher or a philosopher either way I am so proud BFF"

"Your Children's Cyber Safety Website"

"Dear Emily, I found your website to be well developed. It had a natural flow from identifying the problem, substantiating the problem, and helping provide information and resources to combat the problem. This is a very serious issue for all of us to tackle, and the more exposure we have the better. The only critique I have is the fact that some of the information was slightly blocked by either a picture or some other feature and I couldn't read all of the information provided. Otherwise, I was impressed with how much you were able to share! Being that I am also an elementary focused person I found the aesthetic appealing too:) Best, Allison"
